What companies do you think mutual funds will do best in during a recession?

I say Wal-Mart, Target, and fast food places since they do not cause people financial strain in tough times. Possibly pet supplies and Pet Food.
Anything to do with real estate or American auto companies would best be avoided for now, imho.
Any other thoughts?
Wal-Mart is price competitive. In recession, other groceries retailer cuts price too. So to be that takes away the cheap Wal-Mart advantage. If Wal-Mart sells cheaper, they dilute profit. Target has more retail space allocated in clothing than groceries. In recession, people buy more groceries than clothing. So Target don't do as well as Wal-Mart.
Net-Flix does well. People rather rent movies than going out for the movies theater.
Instead of just jumping on these companies, you need to evaluate their financial before deciding on how much to pay for the your investments.
