What is the SATA cable used for or where do i plug it in??
I got a new case with a 400 watt powersupply, a new motherboard and a new processor with fan.. I put together the whole thing and connected all the wires and everything looks fine but for some reason when i turn on the comp it won't turn on.. Its just there it doesn't do anything.. The only thing I can think of is that I didn't use the SATA cable cuz i removed the harddrive from my old comp n put it in the new case n my old harddrive was an IDE harddrive.. So, I'm just wondering if I need to connect the SATA cable somewhere r should i just leave it alone?? n what could possibly be the problem?? any suggestions..
A sata cable plugs into the sata socket on new generation motherboards such as Asus K8V-MX the other end plugs into
a Sata hard drive similat ro an IDE connector plugs into an IDE hard drive it is about 75% smaller than the IDE ribbon cable
SATA stands for Seial ATA which is a 7 pin connector the IDE being 40 or 80 pin it ca be used to make what is called a RAID disk the hard drive used on SATA is known as a Serial ATA hard drive hope that this has been of help to you switch it off in bios
