Why does my internet disconnect (wireless) on laptop when i shut my lid?
i want to download stuff overnight but cant since after some time when my lid is closed my laptop goes into sleep or something, thus disconnecting me from my router/internet. do i change it to hibernate? or "do nothing" (ie neither sleep nor hibernate) but i do not want my screen to remain on after closing lid (as this would waste my lcd life).
Good luck. You have only 3 options for when you close your lid: Do nothing, Hibernate, or Standby and of those three, do nothing will keep your computer "on" for it to still download.
What I have done at work is to have another monitor connected to my laptop as well as another keyboard. When I close the lid of my laptop, the video goes to the external monitor and the laptop's screen is turned "off".
